D IS FOR...DEVIL.

“I can’t believe Peter killed all those people.” James drank his scotch; he and Lydia were finally at home.
“Do you ever suspect, he was the killer?” She asked.
James sat on the couch next to Lydia. “No, never, and I don’t know why?”
“I know why.”
James smiled and kissed her hand. “I’m listening.”
Lydia leaned closer and whispered in his ear. “Because Peter wasn’t the killer.”
James’s chest hurt, he couldn’t move, his mouth went dried. He tried to speak and realized his body was paralyzed.
“The poison works fast. I promise you won’t feel pain.”
There was nothing else James could do. Silently he prayed, closed his eyes and waited for his end.

  3. What a fun little story. I've rarely seen stories this short but it adds to its strength. I noticed that you're a lawyer and a poet. That's totally cool. I'm a paralegal and a writer.
