D IS FOR...DEVIL.

“I can’t believe Peter killed all those people.” James drank his scotch; he and Lydia were finally at home.
“Do you ever suspect, he was the killer?” She asked.
James sat on the couch next to Lydia. “No, never, and I don’t know why?”
“I know why.”
James smiled and kissed her hand. “I’m listening.”
Lydia leaned closer and whispered in his ear. “Because Peter wasn’t the killer.”
James’s chest hurt, he couldn’t move, his mouth went dried. He tried to speak and realized his body was paralyzed.
“The poison works fast. I promise you won’t feel pain.”
There was nothing else James could do. Silently he prayed, closed his eyes and waited for his end.

C is for....COURAGE

“Don’t do it.”
“There is not another choice.”

“There is always a choice.”
Phillips, gave a step forward to the door ignoring the words of his younger brother. A hand gripped his left arm, Phillips was surprised by Gabriel’ strength. Someday his little brother would take the lead, but right now he was still the head of the family, the one who made the decisions and he had decided.
“Let it go, Gabe, everything is set. They are waiting,” Phillips pulled his arm free, and walk out his room, he went all the way down the marble stairs, leaving behind the house, crossing the grounds of the family property with Bash on his heals imploring.
“He’s going to kill you.”
“It’s a duel a first blood, maybe nobody will die tonight.” Phillips didn’t stop, he continue his way to the barns.
“Why are you doing this?”
“Why?” Phillips stopped and look at his brother with all the intensity of his blue eyes, “let me tell you why, there is only one thig that matters, honor. All the money in the world is useless if you don’t have honor. Listen to me very careful Gabe, nobody will step over our name, no as long as a member of this family can defend it.”
Gabe held a sob. “If you go all go with you, I’ll be you witness.”
“Octavius is my witness. You take care of the family, take care of mom and our sisters.” Phillips give him a smile, “I’m good with guns little brother. Trust me, I’ll see you again. I promise.” Phillips kissed the head of his brother and jump onto his black stallion.

B is for BE YOURSELF

Be a princess or be a warrior,
Use a sword or a magic wand.
Wear pink or wear black,
Walk in stilettos or combat boots.
A girl can be strong playing football or dancing ballet.
A girl can be beautiful with long hair or short.
A girl can have a voice for a speech or for a song.
A girl doesn’t need to be different to be powerful,
To be equal, a girl just needs to believe in herself and in
her ability to be whatever she wants to be.

A is for ADRIAN

The sound of the sirens faded soon enough to join the silent night.  But Adrian didn’t stop. His palpitations were drums in his ears, black spots filled his vision, his lungs begged for air.
How long Adrian had been running? His chestnut hair was glued to his forehead and neck, his legs weren’t there anymore, instead, he had two big pieces of concrete and even though he was still running.
It was self-defense. He shouldn’t have listened to that woman. He should have stayed. What did she know? He didn’t do anything wrong…did he?
No, no, no.
Adrian’s legs finally gave up and he landed on his knees. Panting, he grabbed his chest trying to hold his heart. Was this how a heart-attack feels? He was going to die in a dark alley alone like he had always been.
It wasn’t fair. Life wasn’t fair. It had never been with him, still, he had hope. Adrian worked hard to graduate from high school this year. He thought that maybe someday he would go to university and become a lawyer so he could help others like him to find fairness.
He had never cried before, what was the point? But now what else Adrian could do? He was going to die, nor he was going to jail and in either case, his beautiful angel wouldn’t even know that he existed.
His angel was the most extraordinary creature he had seen on Earth, Adrian fell in love with her the first time he listened to her playing the violin. He should have said something to her. There were so many things he should have done, there were so many things he wanted to do.
The noise of a trash can lid knocking onto the floor made Adrian jumped on his feet. He looked around with his hands into a fist, a famished cat came out from the garbage, lonely and a survivor like him.
Adrian closed his eyes.
Breathe, exhale, breathe, exhale. One more time.
He wasn’t going to die today.
He wasn’t going to jail.
This time, he was going to win.

Life owed him, and he was ready to claim it.

SAY YOU'LL REMEMBER ME

SAY YOU’LL REMEMBER ME
By: Katie McGarry
Year: 2018
Genre: Y/A. Fiction. Contemporary Romance

RATE:  🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

I’ve read heartbroken, deep hard-feeling books before, but Say You’ll Remember Me, went beyond that.
I’ve read many stories about redemption, find ourselves and second chances but again, this book was a new concept, at least for me.
I think, I cried, and I held my breath the entire reading. Katie McGarry has done a phenomenal job pouring a cocktail of emotions inside of every page.
Drix and Elle are from different worlds. Drix doesn’t know who he is anymore, Elle wants to be just herself, but she's not allowed. Both are puppets of the society and they should stay away from each other, however, there is one thing real for them, they just want to be together.
It scares me the reality portrayed in this book. As a lawyer, I know the system is not perfect, but more than that, I know how unfair could be. Still, what it scares me the most is the differences in social class are real and we are far away from the equality of opportunities that everybody hopes.
Drix made a mistake, he paid the consequences, he learned from it, but what it broke my heart was his acceptance, that despite second chance he felt he wasn’t worth it. He forgot how to believe in himself and in the world, there are many people in his situation.
Elle was in a prison, not a real jail but she was in the prison of a society, where she needed to be somebody opposite to herself. She didn’t know how to make choices, she never was allowed to make them for herself, still, she believes there was a world full of opportunities for her.
Rich and dysfunctional families Vs. Poor but closes one.
Friends looking for forgiveness
People who needed to learn how to fix their own mistakes.
This book has a complex plot that kept me hooked from the first page.
The writing is fantastic, flawless. The dialogues are excellent, the same as the characters, we have the good guys, the bad guys, and all of them well done described.
I love the romance, fresh, outspoken and innocent.
I’ve read all books written by Katie McGarry, and when I must confess that my favorites still are, Dare you to and Walk the edge, this book got into my heart, deep, honest and nostalgic.
Say You’ll Remember Me is the most heartwarming book by this author.
100% recommended.
Read it and if you don’t have time read it anyway.

Best Phrases.
“If we all did the right thing instead of what other people say we should do, the world be different. It would be better.”

“Life was up and then back down. Life was hard, life was tough, and life meant there would be hurt. And it was up to me to keep going.”

“Maybe if allow myself to feel, too, I can finally give away my pain.”

SAVIORS

“Don’t be stupid. Don’t do it.” Bash warned him again.
The blue circle was fainting.   He had wasted enough time already.  Time, he didn’t have. Oliver chuckled at the irony of his thoughts.
He gave a step forward ignoring the words of his second commander and best friend. Two hands grabbed his left arm, faster that Oliver expected, the numbness reached to his fingers. Good! Bash was getting stronger. The moment for him to take the lead was almost there. Almost, but not yet. So far, Oliver was still the one who made the decisions and he had decided.
“It’s wrong. You know it’s forbidden.”
Oliver’s glares traveled from Bash’s grip to his eyes. Bash didn’t flinch. Oliver’s heart swelled with pride.
“This is not going to bring your wings back.”
“I don’t care about my wings, I only care about to end this war.” Oliver had accepted his punishment and learned to live with that. But failing again, it was something that it wasn’t going to happen in this life, nor in the next one. “Let it go, Bash.” Oliver was losing his energy. “It’s an order.”
“I swore to protect you.”
Using his free hand, Oliver pushed Bash making him land on the ground. He closed his eyes letting the energy returning little by little to his body.
“I’ll see you again. I promise.” Oliver smiled at his friend and jumped to the past.
